1 Of the children of Ammon. The LORD says: “A respeito dos filhos de Amom. Assim diz o SENHOR:”
“Has Israel no sons? “Israel não tem filhos?”
Has he no heir? “Ele não tem herdeiro?”
Why then does Malcam possess Gad, “Por que então Milcom tomou posse de Gade,”
and his people dwell in its cities? “e o seu povo habita nas suas cidades?”
2 Therefore behold, the days come,” “Portanto, eis que vêm os dias,”
says the LORD, “diz o SENHOR,”
“that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, “em que farei ouvir o alarme de guerra contra Rabá dos filhos de Amom,”
and it will become a desolate heap, “e ela se tornará um monte de ruínas,”
and her daughters will be burned with fire; “e as suas aldeias serão queimadas a fogo;”
then Israel will possess those who possessed him,” “então Israel tomará posse daqueles que o possuíram,”
says the LORD. “diz o SENHOR.”
3 “Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste! “Lamente, Hesbom, pois Ai está destruída!”
Cry, you daughters of Rabbah! “Gritem, filhas de Rabá!”
Clothe yourself in sackcloth. “Vistam-se de pano de saco.”
Lament, and run back and forth among the fences; “Lamentem, e corram de um lado para o outro entre as cercas;”
for Malcam will go into captivity, “pois Milcom irá para o cativeiro,”
his priests and his princes together. “junto com os seus sacerdotes e os seus príncipes.”
4 Why do you boast in the valleys, “Por que você se gloria nos vales,”
your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? “no seu vale transbordante, ó filha rebelde?”
You trusted in her treasures, “Você confiou nos seus tesouros,”
saying, ‘Who will come to me?’ “dizendo: 'Quem virá contra mim?'”
5 Behold, I will bring a terror on you,” “Eis que trarei terror sobre você,”
says the Lord, GOD of Armies, “diz o Senhor, o DEUS dos Exércitos,”
“from all who are around you. “de todos os que estão ao seu redor.
All of you will be driven completely out, “Todos vocês serão completamente expulsos,”
and there will be no one to gather together the fugitives. “e não haverá quem reúna os fugitivos.”
6 “But afterward I will reverse the captivity of the children of Ammon,” “Mas depois eu reverterei o cativeiro dos filhos de Amom,”
says the LORD. “diz o SENHOR.”
7 Of Edom, the LORD of Armies says: “A respeito de Edom, assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos:”
“Is wisdom no more in Teman? “Não há mais sabedoria em Temã?”
Has counsel perished from the prudent? “O conselho pereceu entre os prudentes?”
Has their wisdom vanished? “A sabedoria deles desapareceu?”
8 Flee! Turn back! “Fujam! Voltem atrás!”
Dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; “Habitem nas profundezas, habitantes de Dedã;”
for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him when I visit him. “pois trarei a calamidade de Esaú sobre ele quando eu o castigar.”
9 If grape gatherers came to you, “Se colhedores de uvas viessem a você,”
would they not leave some gleaning grapes? “não deixariam alguns rabiscos?”
If thieves came by night, “Se ladrões viessem de noite,”
wouldn’t they steal until they had enough? “não roubariam apenas até se fartarem?”
10 But I have made Esau bare, “Mas eu despojei a Esaú,”
I have uncovered his secret places, “descobri os seus esconderijos,”
and he will not be able to hide himself. “e ele não poderá se esconder.”
His offspring is destroyed, “A sua descendência está destruída,”
with his brothers and his neighbors; “com os seus irmãos e os seus vizinhos;”
and he is no more. “e ele já não existe.”
11 Leave your fatherless children. “Deixe os seus órfãos.”
I will preserve them alive. “Eu os manterei vivos.”
Let your widows trust in me.” “E que as suas viúvas confiem em mim.”
12 For the LORD says: “Behold, they to whom it didn’t pertain to drink of the cup will certainly drink; and are you he who will altogether go unpunished? You won’t go unpunished, but you will surely drink. Pois assim diz o SENHOR: “Eis que aqueles que não estavam condenados a beber o cálice certamente o beberão; e você é aquele que ficará totalmente impune? Você não ficará impune, mas certamente beberá.
13 For I have sworn by myself,” says the LORD, “that Bozrah will become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. All its cities will be perpetual wastes.” Pois jurei por mim mesmo”, diz o SENHOR, “que Bozra se tornará em motivo de espanto, de vergonha, de ruína e de maldição. Todas as suas cidades se tornarão em ruínas perpétuas.”
14 I have heard news from the LORD, “Ouvi uma notícia da parte do SENHOR,”
and an ambassador is sent among the nations, “e um mensageiro foi enviado entre as nações,”
saying, “Gather yourselves together! “dizendo: 'Reúnam-se!”
Come against her! “Venham contra ela!”
Rise up to the battle!” “Levantem-se para a batalha!'”
15 “For, behold, I have made you small among the nations, “Pois, eis que eu fiz de você pequeno entre as nações,”
and despised among men. “e desprezado entre os homens.”
16 As for your terror, “Quanto ao terror que você inspira,”
the pride of your heart has deceived you, “o orgulho do seu coração o enganou,”
O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, “ó você que habita nas fendas da rocha,”
who hold the height of the hill, “que ocupa as alturas da colina,”
though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, “embora você faça o seu ninho tão alto como a águia,”
I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD. “de lá eu o derrubarei”, diz o SENHOR.
17 “Edom will become an astonishment. “Edom se tornará em motivo de espanto.
Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, “Todo aquele que passar por ela ficará espantado,”
and will hiss at all its plagues. “e zombará de todas as suas pragas.”
18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbor cities,” says the LORD, “Como na destruição de Sodoma e Gomorra e das suas cidades vizinhas”, diz o SENHOR,
“no man will dwell there, “ninguém habitará ali,”
neither will any son of man live therein. “nem filho de homem algum viverá nela.”
19 “Behold, he will come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation; “Eis que ele subirá como um leão, das matas do Jordão contra a forte habitação;”
for I will suddenly make them run away from it, “pois de repente os farei fugir dela,”
and whoever is chosen, “e quem for escolhido,”
I will appoint him over it. “eu o nomearei sobre ela.”
For who is like me? “Pois quem é semelhante a mim?”
Who will appoint me a time? “Quem me intimará?”
Who is the shepherd who will stand before me?” “Quem é o pastor que poderá me enfrentar?”
20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Edom, “Portanto, ouçam o conselho do SENHOR, que ele tomou contra Edom,”
and his purposes that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: “e os seus propósitos que ele formou contra os habitantes de Temã:”
Surely they will drag them away, “Certamente eles os arrastarão,”
the little ones of the flock. “até os menores do rebanho.”
Surely he will make their habitation desolate over them. “Certamente ele fará com que a habitação deles fique desolada sobre eles.”
21 The earth trembles at the noise of their fall; “A terra treme com o estrondo da sua queda;”
there is a cry, the noise which is heard in the Red Sea. “há um grito, o som que se ouve no mar Vermelho.”
22 Behold, he will come up and fly as the eagle, “Eis que ele subirá e voará como a águia,”
and spread out his wings against Bozrah. “e estenderá as suas asas contra Bozra.”
The heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day will be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. “O coração dos valentes de Edom naquele dia será como o coração de uma mulher em dores de parto.”
23 Of Damascus: “A respeito de Damasco:”
“Hamath and Arpad are confounded, “Hamate e Arpade estão envergonhadas,”
for they have heard evil news. “pois ouviram más notícias.”
They have melted away. “Elas se derreteram de medo.”
There is sorrow on the sea. “Há angústia no mar.”
It can’t be quiet. “Ele não pode se acalmar.”
24 Damascus has grown feeble, “Damasco enfraqueceu,”
she turns herself to flee, “ela se vira para fugir,”
and trembling has seized her. “e o tremor apoderou-se dela.”
Anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, “Angústia e dores tomaram conta dela,”
as of a woman in travail. “como de uma mulher em trabalho de parto.”
25 How is the city of praise not forsaken, “Como não foi abandonada a cidade de louvor,”
the city of my joy? “a cidade da minha alegria?”
26 Therefore her young men will fall in her streets, “Portanto, os seus jovens cairão nas suas ruas,”
and all the men of war will be brought to silence in that day,” “e todos os homens de guerra serão silenciados naquele dia,”
says the LORD of Armies. “diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.”
27 “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, “Eu acenderei um fogo na muralha de Damasco,”
and it will devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.” “e ele devorará os palácios de Ben-Hadade.”
28 Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck, The LORD says: “A respeito de Quedar, e dos reinos de Hazor, que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, feriu. Assim diz o SENHOR:”
“Arise, go up to Kedar, “Levantem-se, subam contra Quedar,”
and destroy the children of the east. “e destruam os filhos do oriente.”
29 They will take their tents and their flocks. “Eles tomarão as suas tendas e os seus rebanhos.”
they will carry away for themselves their curtains, “Levarão para si as suas cortinas,”
all their vessels, and their camels; “todos os seus utensílios e os seus camelos;”
and they will cry to them, ‘Terror on every side!’ “e gritarão para eles: 'Terror por todos os lados!'”
30 Flee! “Fujam!”
Wander far off! “Vagueiem para longe!”
Dwell in the depths, you inhabitants of Hazor,” says the LORD; “Habitem nas profundezas, habitantes de Hazor”, diz o SENHOR;
“for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, “pois Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, tomou conselho contra vocês,”
and has conceived a purpose against you. “e concebeu um propósito contra vocês.”
31 Arise! Go up to a nation that is at ease, “Levantem-se! Subam contra uma nação que está em paz,”
that dwells without care,” says the LORD; “que habita despreocupada”, diz o SENHOR;
“that has neither gates nor bars, “que não tem portões nem trancas,”
that dwells alone. “que habita isolada.”
32 Their camels will be a booty, “Os seus camelos serão um despojo,”
and the multitude of their livestock a plunder. “e a multidão do seu gado, um saque.”
I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; “Eu espalharei a todos os ventos aqueles que cortam os cantos da barba;”
and I will bring their calamity from every side of them,” “e trarei a sua calamidade de todos os lados,”
says the LORD. “diz o SENHOR.”
33 Hazor will be a dwelling place of jackals, “Hazor será uma habitação de chacais,”
a desolation forever. “uma desolação para sempre.”
No man will dwell there, “Nenhum homem habitará ali,”
neither will any son of man live therein.” “nem filho de homem algum viverá nela.”
34 The LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, A palavra do SENHOR que veio ao profeta Jeremias a respeito de Elão, no início do reinado de Zedequias, rei de Judá, dizendo:
35 “The LORD of Armies says: “Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos:”
‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, “Eis que eu quebrarei o arco de Elão,”
the chief of their might. “o principal do seu poder.”
36 I will bring on Elam the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, “Trarei sobre Elão os quatro ventos dos quatro cantos do céu,”
and will scatter them toward all those winds. “e os espalharei na direção de todos esses ventos.”
There will be no nation where the outcasts of Elam will not come. “Não haverá nação aonde não cheguem os exilados de Elão.”
37 I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, “Farei com que Elão fique aterrorizado diante dos seus inimigos,”
and before those who seek their life. “e diante daqueles que buscam a sua vida.”
I will bring evil on them, even my fierce anger,’ says the LORD; “Trarei o mal sobre eles, a minha ira ardente”, diz o SENHOR;
‘and I will send the sword after them, “e enviarei a espada atrás deles,”
until I have consumed them. “até que eu os tenha consumido.”
38 I will set my throne in Elam, “Estabelecerei o meu trono em Elão,”
and will destroy from there king and princes,’ says the LORD. “e destruirei de lá o rei e os príncipes”, diz o SENHOR.
39 ‘But it will happen in the latter days “Mas acontecerá nos últimos dias”
that I will reverse the captivity of Elam,’ says the LORD.” “que eu reverterei o cativeiro de Elão”, diz o SENHOR.
